Season Archives
2005 Season - Inaugural season for Stony Point Lacrosse. Though taking their lumps on the field, the Tigers got the team started. Congratulations to the young men who had the courage to bring the "fastest game on two feet" to SPHS!
2006 Season - The Tigers earned their first ever playoff appearance in 2006. After finishing with an overall record of 7-6 (4-4 in District), the highlight of the season was a first round playoff win against Leander. The Tigers season ended with a loss to Bowie in the second round of the playoffs. 2007 Season - The Tigers took a step back in 2007, finishing 3-9 on the season. The highlight of the year was the graduation of the boys that started the team. Great job, seniors! 2008 Season - 2008 welcomed Coach Jamie Booth and celebrated a return trip to the playoffs. The Tigers finished 8-9 (6-1 in District) while upgrading their schedule with several D1 teams, including eventual D2 state champ Highland Park D2. Hill Country All Stars included: 1st Team - Brendan Schindel, Midfield, Sophomore 2nd Team - Bit Rambusch, Attack, Sophomore Brad Johnson, Midfield, Sophomore Ross Warkentin, Defense, Sophomore Honorable Mention - Bud Pelkey, Midfield, Sophomore Rollin Kocher, Defense, Senior Travis Lutz, Defense, Senior Coach of the Year - Jamie Booth D2 Central District All State Players included: All State - Brendan Schindel, Midfield, Sophomore All District - Brad Johnson, Midfield, Sophomore Ross Warkentin, Defense, Freshman Honorable Mention - Matt Peterson, Goalie, Sophomore 2009 Season - The season it all came together! Stony Point Lacrosse reached a number of firsts, including an undefeated District season and the first ever State Championship game in Stony Point HS history. Finishing with a 15-5 record (7-0 in District), the Tigers entered the Central District Playoffs as the number one seed. After beating Westwood D2 at Dragon Stadium, the team took care of McCallum at House Park in the Central District Championship, 15-9. The State Tournament also took place at House Park. Cheered on by a large crowd, the Tigers had a nail-biter against Central Catholic of San Antonio, eventually winning 9-8. That put them in the State Final against Coppell from Dallas, who had beaten Memorial out of Houston to gain their spot. Though overmatched, Stony Point played hard till the end, finishing as State Finalists. The team got good press in both the newspaper and television throughout their run.
